Fast food with a flair

I’m having a ridiculously busy August – at the office every single day, plus writing, editing, socializing, going to the gym, emergency appointment with the dentist. You get the picture as to why I’m running out of shopping and/or cooking time. And because I don’t want to eat fast food, one of the ways I make sure I eat well but don’t waste too much time cutting up vegetables or fruits or cooking of any kind is Hy-Rise Foods…

Every time I walk in, I spent a few moments just enjoying the way the lights reflect on forever in the mirrors on both long walls. The staff are wonderful, as is the food, and I can pick whatever I want. It isn’t cheap, so I try not to do it more than once a week, but it’s always worth it. And I don’t have to spend any time chopping.

They also have many choices: fruits, vegetables, seeds, dressings, already mixed salads with quinoa or  couscous (both of which I love). There are so many different things that I tend to eat the same thing over and over again, mostly because I can’t decide. If I put everything I loved into my salad, it would be huge – three or four people huge.

Also, I’m pretty sure they have at least six or seven different kinds of lettuce.

Jello, kiwi, berries, melons, whatever kind of fruit or dessert you could want.

I love this place. If I had the money, I’d pick up lunch from there every single day. But I allow myself to do this now because I’m almost too busy to shop – which is a shame, because food shopping is one of my favorite things…
